· Royal Purple Max Gear Amsoil MTG Redline MT If the "Ford Honey" or any other manual transmission/manual transaxle fluid (i.e. Redline, Amsoil etc.) meets the Ford spec, then it is safe to use. However, I would like to address your last reply. The information and specs I provided are from Ford, who designs and engineers the transmission. · Joined Apr 9, ·. 3, Posts. #4 · . onebadivtec said: So i just switched out my amsoil synchromesh to try Royal Purple and see if either was better. I had all the TSB bullshit done to my car 3 different times and before it was supposed to go for it's 4th go around, I suggested synthetic tranny fluid to the dealer. For example the AMSOIL TRO left amm scar and the Royal Purple oil left amm scar. The lower the scare damage number the better! There was also a surprising difference in the viscosity index. The Royal Purple viscosity index (VI) recorded a low cSt (ASTM D) versus for the TRO.
Based on what Royal Purple states, they have never tested Polaris lubes and are basing their recommendations on "scant information". AMSOIL has done extensive competitive testing on Polaris fluids and base their recommendations of rear world test data. Btw - Royal Purple was gobbled up by a big oil company. I would stay away from Royal Purple, it has done very poorly on comparison test with other oils. Most notably with wear, it's dead last. I have had awesome experience with, Redline, Amsoil, and Motul fluids. If you go to the web pages you can ask what fluid to use in your car, and they will tell you if it's good or bad and what's best for your car. 1. I was debating between Full Synthetic Royal Purple versus Amsoil 5w (cap recommended). 2. Then I looked up manual transmission oil and see Synchomesh (5w) and other special manual oils, another example is Transaxle Gear Lube 75w
motor oil, gear lube and tranny fluid. I was told when I had my Z28 to leave the tranny fluid alone and not use any type of synthetics. with a number of different transmission oils, Royal Purple makes a Synchromax oil exclusively for manual transmission vehicles and cross. 7 may I couldn't find any Amsoil products around my area at the auto part stores so I went with the Royal Purple MaxGear for the front and rear.
